New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) India and Pakistan will sign next month an agreement on reducing the risk from accidents relating to nuclear weapons, it was officially announced here today.

The agreement on ''Reducing the Risk from Accidents Relating to Nuclear Weapons'' will be signed by the two neighbours during the forthcoming visit here of Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri in February for the Indo-Pak Joint Commission Meeting.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting here of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told mediapersons shortly thereafter.

The exact dates for Mr Kasuri's visit were ''being worked out'' through diplomatic channels.

Minister Mukherjee said the issue had been under discussion with Pakistan ''for quite some time and now the two countries are ready to sign it''.

The two countries had reached an understanding on signing the agreement in November last during the Foreign Secretary-level talks here but awaited Cabinet approval.
