Chennai, Jan 18 (UNI) In a bid to attract foreign tourists and Non Resident Indians (NRIs), ''Indian'' has done away with a dual pricing policy for tickets sold in India.

Talking to newspersons here today, Indian CMD Viswapati Trivedi said Indian has introduced the dual pricing policy for tickets sold in India, whereby tickets can now be purchased in India at INR rates.

Other recent initiatives included the launch of co-branded Indian Platinum Credit Card, that offers 20 per cent cash back reward, attractive fares like spot fares and fun-filled holiday pacakages to many popular new destinations, he added.

Mr Trivedi said, ''also on the anvil is a state-of-the-art passenger service system which will give customers a host of benefits like web check-in, self-service check-in kiosks and special service to passengers with special needs.

''In December 2006, Indian carried an all-time record of 8.37 lakh passengers'', he said adding ''our international carriage also registered a quantum increase of 2.11 lakh passengers during the same month.'' Currently, with a fleet of 74 aircrafts, Indian flies to 54 domestic and 18 international destinations in the Gulf and South-East Asia.

The airline has placed an order with Airbus for 43 brand new aircraft, of which, an A319, has been received.
