Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today granted bail to Sunil Sadashiv Ghate, an accused in an extortion case.

Ghate is a member of Akhil Bhartiya Sena, a political party formed by underworld don turned politician Arun Gawli.

A Division Bench comprising Justice J N Patel and R S Mohite allowed the interim-bail on a bond of Rs 25,000.

It may be recalled that Ghate, along with Gawli, was accused in the case and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act(MCOCA) had been applied on the case. However, the HC quashed the MCOCA application on July 27, 2006 following which, the state filed an application before the Supreme Court challenging the said order.

Ghate has been granted interim-bail during the pendency of the case before the Apex Court.
