Court takes cognizance of antique theft case
Patna, Jan 18 (UNI) A special court here today took cognizance of a case relating to theft of antique bronze idols from Patna Museum.
Special CBI Judicial Magistrate of Patna Sarvajeet prima facie found the case true under the various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against three incarcerated accused namely Sahid Baris Warsi, Sahid Miraz Warsi and Binod Yadav.
The judge posted the matter on Febreuary one as the the next date of hearing.
Eighteen bronze idols were stolen from Patna Museum in September 2006.
The case was handed over to the CBI.
During investigation 17 idols were recovered by the Central Investigating Agency of which two were recovered from Kolkata and the remaining 15 from Nalanda District.
However, one idol namely Manju Shree could not be recovered till date.
The CBI had submitted a chargesheet in the case against the three accused on January one, while investigation was still pending against three other accused in the idol theft case.
