Panaji, Jan 18 (UNI) Stating that the BJP was not ''demoralised'' with the Supreme Court's verdict against two of its legislators today, Opposition Leader and former Chief Minister Mr Manohar Parrikar said the party would approach the ''peoples' court'' for its judgement in the coming elections to the Goa Assembly within the next three months.

''The Supreme Court's verdict upholding the High Court's decision to disqualify two of our legislators for holding office of profit did not demoralise our party. In fact, we are upbeat with the verdict and will go to the people's court for their judgement in the coming elections to the state assembly'' he told media persons here.

Reacting to the SC verdict, Mr Parrikar also hinted at the possibility of the party filing a petition with Goa Governor S C Jamir and the Election Commission of India seeking disqualification of Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane and several other legislators, since even they were holding various offices of profit when they had contested the elections.

''Going for a revision of the Judgement at this stage does not make a difference as the elections are due in three months in Goa. We are upbeat on the issue as we got public sympathy and support. Though several ruling party legislators had been holding different offices of profit, no action was taken against them,'' he observed.

Meanwhile, deputy Chief Minister and state NCP president Dr Wilfred De Souza was jubilant.

''We have won a moral victory. Though justice was delayed, it was not denied,'' he declared.
