Accused in arms seizure case remanded in police custody

Kochi, Jan 18 (UNI) A lower court today remanded R O Koya, an accused in the arms seizure case, in police custody till January 22.

Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Jayakumar John remanded Koya after police filed a petition yesterday seeking his custody for further investigation of the case registered under the Arms Act.

The case relates to the illegal import of 49 air guns and 37 air pistols from Dubai through Cochin Port which were seized on January nine.

Koya, who went missing after the seizure, surrendered before customs officials at Guruvayoor on January 13.
