Two HUJI terrorists, out to carry blasts on Republic Day, arrested

New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) In a major catch before the Republic Day, police have arrested two Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI) militants and foiled a bid to carry out blasts in the Capital.

Lutful Rehman, a Bangladeshi national, and Mohammad Amin Wani, hailing from Kashmir, were arrested by the Special Cell sleuths on January 4, said a senior police official.

While Rehman was arrested from Azadpur Subzi Mandi area with Rs four lakh cash, Wani was arrested from Nizamuddin area following Rehman's interrogation, he said.

''One-an-a-half kilograms of RDX, a detonator and a timer was recovered from his possession.'' Their interrogation led to the disclosure of their plot to carry out subversive operations on Republic Day. Details were not disclosed due to 'operations' being conducted following their arrests, the officer added.

Earlier they were taken on 10-day police remand following their arrest for interrogation.

They were further taken on remand of three more days today.
