Salman's hit and run case adjourned to January 31
Mumbai, Jan 17 (UNI) A Local Court today adjourned the hearing of the hit and run case, involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan, to January 31 as a key witness did not turn up for cross-examination.
Dipesh Mehta, counsel for Salman, said the witness Kalim Mohammed Iqbal, whose examination in chief was completed, did not turn up for cross-examination and hence the matter was adjourned to January 31.
Kalim, who was among the injured in the accident, in his deposition before the trial court earlier said that he had seen the actor getting down from the driver's seat of his Toyota Land Cruiser car.
Salman's car ran over people sleeping on the pavement outside the Bandra Bakery here on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four others.
Salman has been facing trial under various charges of the Indian Penal code including charge of causing death by negligence and rash driving. However, the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to muder was dropped on the orders of the Bombay High Court.
