NKC may be invited to take part in implementation of its report
Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) After submitting its report to the Centre on January 12, the National Knowledge Commission (NKC) has pinned its hope in getting government's nod for active participation in the implementation of the recommendations made by it.
Talking to UNI on the sidelines of the fifth H M Trivedi Memorial Lecture, which was held by the Indian Merchant Chambers here last evening, the chairman of the commission, Dr Sam Pitroda said that ''While addressing a gathering after receiving our report on January 12, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, had hinted that the government may ask the commission to take active part in the implementation part of the report too''. However, the commission was yet to get any communique from the government in this connection so far.
The report, as submitted by the commission, covered only a few aspects of education like library and e-governance and the remaining parts would be included when the commission submits its second report next year.
Asked to comment on the debate over reservation between the commission and the government, he said ''Yes, the Government didn't accept our recommendation on the issue and that's it''. But our job was over once we made our recommendation on the topic.
On the recent row between him and the vice chairman of NKC, Mr Bhardwaj, Dr Pitroda said, ''I don't want to comment on the act of my colleague.'' Mr Bhardwaj had complained that he was kept in dark about the preparation of the commission's report.
