Releasing a study on 'The Future of Wi-Fi in India', sponsored by the association and carried out by Tonse Telecom, its Managing Director Frank Hanzlik told reporters here today that the report, the most comprehensive effort undertaken thus far, put together a clear snapshot of the industry, the ecosystem, its composition, challenges and opportunities.

''With the launch of this detailed report, we have taken yet another major step towards a focussed long term thrust, which will catapult India into a globally pre-eminent position in the Wi-Fi industry,'' he said.

Mr Hanzlik said that as the broadband wireless access grew, the WLAN network gear sector was projected to exceed 275 million Dollar by 2011-2012 from the current level of 23.1 million Dollar.

The report dealt with a detailed analysis of the current market scenario in the country for Wi-Fi and its enablers.
