Efforts being made to provide relief to commoners in MPD 2021:Maken
New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) Allaying apprehensions on the 2021 Master Plan of Delhi, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken today said the present draft was a preliminary one and suitable modifications would be made to ensure relief to the common man and small traders.
Speaking at a convention of Congress workers in the capital convened to discuss the party's preparations for the forthcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls, Mr Maken said the Government would ensure that all unauthorised colonies in the capital were regularised and ownership rights provided to people living in these areas.
Further, the Centre was working on a policy to allow additional constructions on residential plots and increasing the FAR ratio to provide relief to the common man from sealing and demolition.
In addition, it had also been decided to provide exemption from sealing for shops upto 20m dealing with 24 items of daily use besides allowing schools, nursing homes, diagnostic labs and clinics to operate in these areas in the same way as they were running at present.
Speakers at the conference, presided over by All India Congress Committee General Secretary Ashok Gehlot and attended by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Rambabu Sharma and other senior leaders of the party, reiterated that the Congress was fully prepared for the forthcoming polls.
''The MCD polls will be held on schedule,''Mr Gehlot said and reiterated that the Congress would again emerge triumphant in the local body elections.
