CAS to extend to whole of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, other cities
New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) The Conditional Access System (CAS), the digital mode of delivering TV services, will soon be extended to other areas of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and also to other metros.
Announcing this here today, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said the course for phase two and three of the CAS will be charted out by the first week of February.
The decision to go in for extension of the system has been prompted by the success of the system in Chennai and selected areas of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata where it became operational from December 31, Mr Dasmunsi told a press conference.
He said that by and large the system was working satisfactorily in the three metros, barring a few complaints.
The Ministry was holding consultations with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and other departments concerned in this connection and would come out with on blue print, the Minister added.
