Astral ties up with Tyco, Singapore for supply of ABS fittings

Mumbai, Jan 17 (UNI) Astral Poly Technik Ltd, a manufacturer and provider of CPVC piping and plumbing systems in the country, has signed a contract to manufacture ABS (Acryionitrile - Butadine - Styrene) fittings for Singapore-based Tyco Pipe Systems Pte Ltd.

ABS is a modern thermoplastic having wide variety of applications in the construction&infrastructure sector and also the industrial segment.

Announcing this contract, Astro Poly Technik's Managing Director Sandeep Engineer today said, the contract is initially for a period of five years with an extension clause.

Commenting, Mr Albert Liew, MD of Tyco Pipes Systems Pte said, ''We are currently selling our products across Asia Pacific market to the tune of USD 45 million, of which ABS fittings is one of the most valuable product range.'' Replying to a question, Mr Liew said his company expects to ncrease the outsourcing of ''ABS specialised fittings with metal inserts'' to Astral for a substantial portion of its requirements over the next five years.

Astral for the first half of the current fiscal made a turnover of Rs 42 crore as compared to a last (full)year's turnover of Rs 51 crore.
