Mumbai, Jan 17 (UNI) A local court today remanded two aides of Chhota Shakeel to 14 days in police custody, who were arrested yesterday in a case of extortion.

Jamir Khan alias Jacky and Tanvir Khan were arrested yesterday from outside the residence of a businessman, from whom they had demanded protection money, at Bandra in the western suburbs of the metropolis.

Acting on a tip-off, police had laid a trap outside the residence of the businessman and arrested the duo when they came there to ''eliminate him'' following his refusal to part with any protection money. Two revolvers were also recovered from their possession.

However, counsel for duo accused the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai police of implicating his clients in a false case.

He claimed they were languishing in a Dubai jail for more than a month before being deported yesterday.

However, when the defence failed to produce any concrete evidence substantitating its claim, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode framed criminal charges against the duo under sections 302 (murder), 115 (abetment) of the Indian Penal code (IPC) and sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
