65 officials from 7 countries join workshop on'crime against kids'
New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) Sixty-five officials from seven countries, including Italy, UK, and China, are participating in a workshop on 'e-Crime' against children at the CBI Academy in neighbouring Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The four-day workshop aims at providing training to law enforcement officers from India and other Interpol member countries engaged in investigation of cases of child sexual abuse.
At the workshop, participants would familiarise themselves with the dynamics and problems encountered in sexual abuse investigation, types of sexual abuse cases, offender typology and types of computer facilitated crimes committed against children.
They would also be exposed to the various methods of investigation relating to online child abuse and management of law enforcement response to computer facilitation of crimes against children.
Sponsored by the Microsoft Corporation, the workshop is being conducted by eminent faculties from Interpol Secretariat General, International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Microsoft Corporation and the CBI Academy here.
Of the 65 participants, 28 are from CBI, 27 from State Police organisations and ten from Italy, UK, China, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Cambodia and Nepal.
Inaugurating the workshop, CBI Special Director M L Sharma stressed on the need to draft a model legislation and share it with countries where it was not in existence or existed but suffered from inadequacies, while calling for the need to evolve and adopt an international covenant recognised by all countries.
