King of Comedy Johny Lever meets tsunami victims in Andaman
Port Blair, Jan 16 (UNI) The King of Comedy Johny Lever today visited the permanent shelter construction site for tsunami victims at Bambooflat area of south Andaman and interacted with tsunami victims.
'' I wanted to see the rehabilitation work in Andaman,'' said the comedy star, who also runs Johny Lever Trust in Mumbai for helping the poor patients.
The visit was arranged by the Hindustani Covenant Church (HCC), working in these remote islands for tsunami rehabilitation. Johny Lever inspected the ongoing construction work of permanent shelter and expressed his satisfaction.
Out of 373 permanent shelters to be constructed in Bambooflat area in south Andaman, HCC is constructing 152 shelters for which HCC has already signed an MoU with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
''Our Film Industry has done a lot for collecting funds for tsunami victims and I am happy to see the progress made,'' Johny Lever told reporters at Bambooflat.
John Rao, now popularly known as Johny Lever, had presented an entertaining programme yesterday at the Netaji Stadium in Port Blair.
He said that he is impressed with the lifestyle of the residents of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and would like to come back again.
'' Work hard with sincerity and no one will be able to stop you,'' said Johny lever in his message to the Islanders.
