Kerala not to go for appeal against HC verdict on Lavalin: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 16 (UNI) Chief Minister V S Achutanandan today said the government will not appeal in the Supreme Court on the Kerala High Court directive ordering a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in awarding of contract to the Canadian firm SNC Lavalin for modernisation of three hydel projects.
Reiterating his stand that SNC Lavalin should be black-listed for ''failing'' to fund the development of Malabar Cancer Centre in return for getting the contract, he said the government would go along with the HC order and was ready to face any kind of inquiry.
''There is no need for an appeal in the Supreme Court against the HC verdict,'' he told reporters after a Cabinet meeting.
Asked if the government had failed in the case in the high court, Mr Achutanandan said, ''We are not afraid and are ready to face any kind of inquiry.'' Mr Achutanandan said his views on the SNC-Lavalin issue were on record.
