Social worker Dr Rupatai Kulkarni chosen for Bhadrakali award

Kolhapur, Jan 15 (UNI) Veteran social worker Dr Rupatai Kulkarni from Vidharba region in Maharashtra, has been selected for this year's Bhadrakali award, instituted by 'Tararani Vidhyapeet' here.

Vidhyapeet Secretary Dr Krantikumar Patil and Executive Chairman R K Kanbarkar jointly told mediapersons here today that the national level Bhadrakali award was being conferred upon Dr Rupatai Kulkarni for her social service and outstanding contribution to the society.

The award carrying Rs 21,000 cash, shawl, shriphal and a memonto, will be presented to Dr Kulkarni by Mahaashtra Finance Minister Jaywantrao Patil on January 17 here, Mr Patil said.

Earlier recipients of this award include political and social worker Rahmata Vihaysane Shinde, veteran writer Dr Sarojini Babar, social activist Medha Patkar, freedom fighter Dr Usha Mehta, IPS officer Dr Kiran Bedi among others, they said.
