Nithari killings: CBI says 40 bags of recoveries being examined
New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) The CBI today said the 'recoveries' made from and around the Nithari 'killer house', kept in 40 polythene bags, have been sent for postmortem, individualisation and DNA extraction.
This was being done to individualise the fragments of bones and other biomaterials recovered from the 'spot' -- the 'killer house', drains close to the house of the accused and its backyard, said the CBI spokesman here.
''The process was important so as to link them to the relatives of missing persons, through advanced forensic techniques, and pin-point the number of those killed besides ascertaining the 'real' recipients of the ex-gratia.'' So far 19 cases have been registered in this connection on January 10 -- relating to kidnapping, rape and murder of children and women -- and the custodial interrogation of the two accused was continuing, he said.
''A high-level team of forensic experts drawn from CFSL-New Delhi, AIIMS-Delhi and FSL-Andhra Pradesh had collected forensic evidence -- fragments of bones and other biomaterials -- from the 'spot' which are now kept sealed in more than 40 polythene bags.'' He said the material received from the Uttar Pradesh Police will also be sent for forensic examination.
''Relatives of the victims and other connected witnesses were being examined to establish the sequence of events.'' The 30-member CBI team is headed by a Joint Director level officer and also consists of one Deputy Inspector General and two Superintendents of Police, the spokesman added.
