Janata Dal(S) demands dismissal of Karnataka government
Bangalore, Jan 15 (UNI) Janata Dal (S) (Surendra Kumar group) state unit President H Ekantaiah today demanded the dismissal of the Karnataka government for its alleged failure in conducting elections to the urban local bodies in the state.
Mr Ekantaiah told reporters here his party had submitted a memorandum to Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi demanding dismissal of the state government.
No government could negate or tamper with the right to vote or contest and efforts should be to hold elections before the expiry of the term of the democratic institutions as stipulated. Polling for local bodies should not be deferred on some excuses, Mr Ekantaiah added.
The State Election Commission has repeatedly requested the state government to furnish the necessary information to enable them to complete the elections before the expiry of their term and it has failed to comply with the request, he added.
