Gun and gunman can't terrorise me: Mirwaiz
Jammu, Jan 15 (UNI) All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while terming the grenade attack at his Srinagar residence 'a frustrated act of people involved in violence,' today said such elements can neither terrorise him nor derail the peace process and dialogue to solve the Kashmir issue.
Addressing mediapersons at a press conference ahead of his Pakistan visit, The Mirwaiz said it was an act of those indulged in violence and killing after being rejected by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
''They are trying to sabotage the peace process but will not succeed. Such attacks will not deter us from moving forward in the ongoing dialogue process aimed at restoring permanent peace in the state, he said.
Emphasising the need for involving people of the strife-torn state in the dialogue process he said their involvement is important.
Hurriyat leaders are ready to talk with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to resolve the Kashmir problem, he added.
Stressing the need for institutionalisation of on-going peace process, the Mirwaiz said the existing cease-fire on the Line of Control (LoC) should be extended in Kashmir so as to create a conducive atmosphere in the state.
''Dialogue is the only way to solve all problems and we are ready for that. There is no military solution to the Kashmir issue, it is a political problem and should be solved politically,'' he said.
The moderate Hurriyat leader further said his party does not believe in violence so ''we are initiating dialogue among different sections of the people of the state''.
The APHC chairman along with other Hurriyat leaders Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat and Nayeem Ahmed Khan also addressed public meets ahead of his five-day visit to Islamabad, which is to be commenced on January 18.
