Fake currencies worth Rs 42,000 recovered
Aizawl, Jan 15 (UNI) The Subsidiary Intelligent Bureau (SIB) and Mizoram police special branch in a joint operation have seized fake currencies worth Rs 42,000 and arrested two persons at Bawngkawn area here.
Police today said acting on a tip-off, the team conducted raids in a residential area yesterday and recovered counterfeit currencies of five hundred and thousand rupee denomination.
'' We suspect there is a racket of fake note dealers, who may have links with high officials in the state's machinery,'' an SIB official claimed.
Police had refused to disclose the identity of the arrested persons for next phase of investigation.
Police sources further said they have seized fake currencies worth rupees two lakh in the past couple of months along Asom-Mizoram border.
