Cold wave continues in Capital, mercury drops to 4.8 Degree C
New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) Cold wave conditions sweeping through Delhi over the last two weeks continued into the third week with the mercury today dropping to 4.8 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal.
It was another chilly morning that greeted Delhiites today as cold South Easterly winds maintained the biting cold that has marked the weather of Delhi over the last two weeks.
The cold winds led to a drop in minimum temperature in the capital from 5.7 Degree C yesterday to 4.8 degree C today.
However, visibility levels in Delhi continued to remain normal with just a slight fog witnessed this morning. Weathermen said the minimum visibility this morning was 800 m, considered normal Weathermen attribute the cold wave conditions in Delhi also to the ground frost conditions prevailing over some parts of Punjab and North Rajasthan.
The cold wave could persist for the next 24 hours with the weathermen forecasting continuance of Ground frost during the next 24 hours. Infact, they have forecast a minimum temperature of 5 degree C tomorrow.
The weather office has, however, forecast that the cold wave conditions could abate in the next two to thee days.
Weathermen have forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with slight fog and mist expected during the morning hours.
The last two weeks have witnessed Delhi experiencing a severe cold wave with the temperatures hovering around the four degree mark on most days.
