Tiruchirapalli, Jan 14 (UNI) As a rare case in medical history, a woman gave birth to twins for the third consecutive time at a city-based private hospital here recently.

''It is a medical miracle,'' said Chief Gynaecologist S Rohaiyah of the hospital where P Sirafunisha delivered the twins, both females by caesarian.

Talking to UNI, the gynaecologist said a woman delivering twins for the third consecutive time was a very rare case in the medical history.

Earlier, Sirafunisha delivered the first twins (both male) in the year 2000 and the second twins-- a male and a female in 2003.

She said the reason for twin pregnancy cannot be predicted, as the factors may vary for each woman.

It may be due to genetic factors or artificial ovulation drugs.

After Sirafunisha's second delivery, her husband, a watch mechanic, was advised by the doctors to consider family planning because of his wife's poor health condition.

K Peer Mohammed, husband of Sirafunisha, said though it would be difficult to manage all the six children, 'it is God's gift.'' UNI
