Rickshaw puller deposits jewellery in police station

Jabalpur, Jan 14 (UNI) A tribal rickshaw puller has displayed his honesty by depositing silver jewellery, worth Rs six lakh, left by a customer, police said today.

Sukhlal Gaud (32) loaded some materials belonging to a youth in his rickshaw and set off from Gol Bazar to the main bus stand.

The youth said he was coming from behind.

On reaching the bus stand, the rickshaw puller waited for the person but he did not arrive. Sukhlal deposited the sack in the the Omti police station.

When constables Dhananjay Pandey and Santram opened the sack, they found 30 kg silver jewellery, worth Rs six lakh.

Omti Station House Officer R D Bharadwaj said the disappearance of the youth indicated that that the jewellery could be of theft or smuggling.

On the basis of the youth's description, police has started to search for him.
