Portugal President visits Old Goa Church complex

Panaji, Jan 14 (UNI) Portugal President Prof Anibal Cavaco Silva, accompanied by his spouse Dr Maria Cavco Silva and delegates from Portugal, today visited Old Goa Church complex and evinced a keen interest in the existing world heritage architectural monuments.

He also visited Chapel of our Lady of Mount se Cathedral, Basilica of Bom Jesus and church and convent of St Francis of Assist, Archaeological Musuem, Portrait Gallery, Art Gallery and Museum Christian Art.

The Portugal president appreciated the work being done by the Archaeological Survey of India and remarked in the vistors book, ''Congratulation for the preservation of historical heritage''.

A special mass was held at Basilica of Bom Jesus for the President and accompanying dignitaries which was celebrated by Fr Delio.
