One time loan waiver would take one year time: Yediyurappa

Hubli, Jan 14 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today said the government was committed to waive farmer loans as one time benefit but it would take at least one year's time.

Talking to mediapersons here, he appealed to the farmers to repay their loans and take fresh loans and get the loan waiver benefit later.

He said it was proposed to give one time loan waiver after mobalising required resources from sale of encroached land after acquiring in and around Bangalore, but it may take time and since there were several influential people behind the land grabbing and they might go to courts and bring stay.

Mr Yediyurappa said stress would be laid on implementation Dr Nanjundappa report on regional imbalance.

On the financial situation of the State, Mr Yediyurappa, who also holds Finance portfolio, said the state finance position has improved considerably as the internal generation rate was 16 per cent this year against 13.7 per cent in 2005-06. ''We have collected an additional revenue of Rs 3724 Crore this year by plugging the leakages'', he added.

Referring to agitation by Seers and the public over providing 'Eggs' to the students in mid-day meals, Mr Yediyurappa said he was with the seers and the public and would definitely discuss the matter with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to withdraw 'Eggs' from the mid-day meal scheme. It was included as per the direction of the Union Government, he added.
