Fire destroys property estimated to over Rs one crore

Rampur (Shimla), Jan 14 (UNI) Property estimated to be over Rs one crore was gutted in a devastating fire that broke out in main Rampur Bazar of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh late this evening, fire and police sources said.

Three shops and three rooms of the HP State Civil Supplies Department in a wooden building in the town were gutted in the fire,causing a loss of over Rs one crore.

The sources said though no loss of property was reported in the incident, the cause of which was being ascertained.

Fire and police personnel along with locals fought with the fierce flames for over 90 minutes before bringing it under control and preventing its spread to the other adjoining buildings, they said.

The district administration had ordered an inquiry into the incident, the sources said, added that a case has been registered and investigations are on.
