New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) In the run-up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Delhi Government has decided to spruce up the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.

An official source said state of art equipment will be installed in the hospitals to ensure world class facilities are available there.

''The Government wants to ensure that good facilities be provided to the participants of the games.... and it is a must to have good hospitals for that,'' he said.

The Government will soon announce a grant for both the hospitals so that work on the prestigious project can commence immediately.

While the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, located in East Delhi's Kichripur area, will get a trauma centre besides 100 more beds, the New Delhi-located LNJP will get additional doctors for the games.

The Government is also considering to construct new hospitals for the games in and around east Delhi, the official said.

''Some of these hi-tech hospitals will offer cancer treatment facilities,'' he added.

''Initially the government had set aside Rs 150 million for the construction of the hospitals, but more funds will be made available,'' the official said.
