Youth distressed due to growing unemployment in J

Srinagar, Jan 13 (UNI) Demanding comprehensive industrial policy for maximizing job avenues, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a partner in the Jammu and Kashmir coalition government said youths are distressed because of growing unemployment.

Addressing a public meeting a senior PDP leader and former Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir said human resource, in the State needs to be utilized by generating more jobs.

He suggested self-employment and other such schemes to be made more viable alongwith commissioning soft loans to the needy.

He also asked for initiating effective measures for making authorities of financial institutions operating in Jammu and Kashmir more responsive in providing assistance to the un-employed for setting up their own income generating units.

General Secretary Nizam-ud-Din Bhat in his address demanded comprehensive industrial policy to be adopted in the state for maximizing job avenues under the sector.

He said diversification of Agro-based products would go a long way in providing more employment avenues besides strengthening socio-economic profile of the people.
