People celebrate harvest festival Lohri

Jammu, Jan 13 (UNI) People from all walks of life today celebrated harvest festival of 'Lohri,' marking the end of winter, across the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Many people offered prayers for the well-being of their loved ones and participated in the early morning prayers at the gurdwara.

In a customary ritual Sweets, sugarcane, peanuts and rice are thrown in the bonfires, with friends and relatives surrounding it in the evening.

Residents of border town Suchetgarh in Jammu district, celebrated the festival with the soldiers of the Border Security Force (BSF).

Jammu and Kashmir state BJP unit also celebrated lohri in the premises of party office with the jubilant party leaders and activists performing bhangra on drum beats accompanied by lighting of firewood.
