Naxal armoury: police teams rush to Bhopal
Bhopal, Jan 13 (UNI) Two days after the Madhya Pradesh police unearthed an illicit arms factory here, senior police officials from various states are heading to the state capital to interrogate the five people detained in connection to the incident.
While police teams from Delhi and Andhra Pradesh have already arrived here, teams from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh are expected in a day or two, Bhopal Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Anuradha Shankar Singh told UNI today.
In the raid on a house in Satnami Nagar in Piplani area here on January 11, the police had recovered few lathe machines, spares of fire arms and hand grenades, gun powder, cartridges and Naxalite literature from the site. Later, houses in Kalpana Nagar, Siddharth Enclave, Bijli Nagar and Bhel Nagar were also raided and few suspects detained, she said.
Most of the detained belonged to Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra and their links with Naxalites and their position in the cadre were being ascertained, Ms Singh said.
Implements and spares seized from the site were being enlisted, she added.
Meanwhile, police sources those detained were suspected to be in senior positions in the Naxal outfits as literature regarding manufacture of firearms and laptop, besides lakhs of rupees in cash were recovered from their possession.
Five people, including a woman, who were formally arrested, were remanded in police custody till January 25. They and other suspects were being interrogated.
