Naxal armoury: Interrogation of suspects is on
Bhopal, Jan 13 (UNI) Senior police officials from Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh are heading to Bhopal to interrogate five persons detained after unearthing of an illicit arms factory here two days ago.
The police teams from Delhi and Andhra Pradesh had alredy arrived and others were expected in a day or two, Bhopal Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Anuradha Shankar Singh told UNI today.
From a house in Satnami Nagar in Piplani area here, police unearthed few lathe machines, spares of fire arms and hand grenades, gun powder, cartridges and Naxalite literature. Later, few houses in Kalpana Nagar, Siddharth Enclave, Bijli Nagar and Bhel Nagar were also raided and few suspects detained, she said.
Most of those detained belonged to Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra and their links with Naxalites and their position in the cadre were being ascertained, Ms Singh said.
Implements and spares seized from the illicit arms factory were being enlisted, Ms Singh added.
Meanwhile, police sources said few of those detained were suspected to be in senior positions in the naxal outfits as literature regarding manufacture of firearms and laptop, besides cash of few lakhs of rupees were recovered from their possession.
Five people, including a woman, who were formally arrested, were remanded to police custody till January 25. They and other suspects were being interrogated.
Experts from School of Weapons, Mhow and CRPF, Indore were expected here to examine the implements and spares seized during the raid.
