Metal prices upswing on heavy demand from retailers

Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) Metal prices were on an upswing on heavy demand from retailers today, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In the ferrous category, copper heavy and copper utencils rose by Rs 300 and Rs 100 per quintal respectively while Brass utencil and brass cutting shot up by Rs 200 and Rs 400 per quintal respectively and Aluminium utencils went up Rs 50 per quintal on increase of fresh demand.

In the non-ferrous segment, copper wire bar and zinc slab hiked by Rs 400 each per quintal while Aluminium ingots and lead ingots moved upwards by Rs 50 each per quintal on lesser stock supply.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode declined by Rs five and Rs 40 per kg respectively on sustain heavy selling prssure.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 31,500, copper utensils - Rs 29,100, brass utensils - Rs 22,800, brass cuttings - Rs 25,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,250.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 34,200, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,500, zinc slab - Rs 21,500, lead ingots - Rs 7,350 tin slab - Rs 590 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,700 (per kg).
