Meghalaya' villages bordering Bangladesh framed adverse possession
Shillong, Jan 13 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) today reiterated that Pyrdiwah, Dawki, Muktapur and Naljuri villages bordering Meghalaya's border with Bangladesh were classified as 'adverse possession.' ''These areas are presently under our effective control and being cultivated by our villagers,'' Additional Deputy Inspector General BSF M N Sajjan said.
Mr Sajjan said that the Union Government has directed that fencing in 'adverse possession areas' will be kept in abeyance till a final decision was taken.
Certain areas like Pyrdiwah and small stretches near villages of Dawki, Naljuri and Muktapur were framed as 'adverse possessions' since the boundary pillars existed in our area, although the ground has been in our occupied by us since 1947,'' he said.
Mr Sajjan informed a working boundary had been agreed upon between the two countries to resolve the issue.
