M-3 Missile develops snag, hit village, destroys houses
Berhampur (Orissa), Jan 13 (UNI) An anti-aircraft missile M-3 testfired today from the test range of Air Defence College at Golabandh developed a snag in its trajectory path and fell near a paddy field in Basanaputa village damaging some houses today.
Fortunately, no one in the village was injured though the missile hit the ground with a big bang instead of falling into the Bay of Bengal.
Panic gripped the village and the people ran helter skelter as the missile fell near a paddy harvesting site of one G Dasarathi Patra which was completely gutted.
The houses of Babula Maharana, S Devraj Reddy and Prabhat Sethy of nearby Upalapati village were damaged. The panic villagers later lodged a complaint with the District Collector and demanded compensation for the damages caused due to the anti-aircraft missile UNI
