Krishna felicitates Students from 19 Universities

Mumbai, Jan 13: The Governor and Chancellor of Universities inMaharashtra S M Krishna felicitated the Best Students from 19Universities in the state at a special function held at Raj Bhavan.

The Governor expressed satisfaction over the fact that 12 of the19 University toppers are women. The students were selected on thebasis of academic excellence and performance in extra curricularactivities.

Krishna yesterday said that for a student to become a leader inhis or her chosen field, it is not enough to excel only in studies.

He said unless academic excellence is matched by performance insports, culture and other extra curricular activities, such lack ofexposure could act as a stumbling block in the development of overallpersonality of the student.

The Governor hailed the contribution of past Governors of theState Dr P C Alexander and Mohammed Fazal, who started the InterUniversity sports festival of 'Ashwamedh' and the Inter Universitycultural festival 'Indradhanushya' respectively.
