Heat wave in Orissa increased since 1991
New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) The heat wave over coastal Orissa has increased and become severe since 1991, a study conducted by the IMD on the new pattern of the heat waves and cyclone has found.
The changes cannot be attributed to a long term increasing trend, and hence no ''definite causal'' reason could be given for it, said the study conducted by the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) in consultation with the Orissa government.
Meanwhile, official sources said Cuttack town has been included under the National River Conservation Plan on river Mahanadi in the state. The sanctioned cost for various pollution abatement work in this town is Rs 14.04 crore.
However, there are plans to take up some more towns but it depends upon the availability of necessary funds as 30 per cent of the total cost will have to be borne by the State Governments, the sources added.
