Muktsar, Jan 13 (UNI) The Congress will finalise the party manifesto and list of the candidates for the February 13 assembly elections in Punjab within two days.

This was disclosed by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh during interaction with the mediamen after addressing a political conference organised by the Congress on the auspicious occasion of Maghi fair here.

He said the election manifesto-2007 would comprise three parts.

''We will tell the people where we were when we took over in 2002; what was the position now after implementing all the 66 poll promises and initiatives to be taken in the field of health, social security and economic prosperity.'' ''I promise you that we will take punjab in all respects to such great heights,'' he said, adding that all the poll promises made by the Congress Party during the assembly elections in 2002 had been fulfilled by his government.

Regarding SAD president Prakash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal's claim that they faced a threat to their lives from him, he said that their apprehensions were ''baseless'' and they should desist from making such ''irresponsible'' statements.

He, however, said that he had directed the Director General of Police that the Badals should be provided with as much security as they would like to have.

To another question, the chief minister said it was unfortunate on the part of Mr Sukhbir Badal to drag Congress leader Jagmeet Brar's name in the unfortunate incident of recovery of four bodies of children from his abandoned rice sheller.
