Chill in Delhi, temperature drops further
New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Temperature dropped for the second consecutive day in the national capital as the North-Westerlies maintained a chill in the air.
The minimum temperature was at 3.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal However, the maximum recorded by the IMD was 19.7 degrees Celsius, which too was a degree below normal.
Yesterday the temperature had dipped to 4.8 from the previous day's minimum of 5.2 degrees Celsius.
Predicting a partly cloudy sky over the next 24 hours, the Met department said mist or shallow fog was likely in the morning.
Attributing the prevailing weather conditions to the cold Northerlies in the region, it added, ''The minimum is likely to hover around three degrees Celsius.'' With the present chill in the air, Delhiites seem set for a further spell of cold condition as the week saw the mercury plummeting to the season's lowest at 2.6 degrees Celsius, the second lowest in the last five years, on Monday.
An Airports Authority of India spokesperson said flight operations were normal throughout the day.
