Battle lines drawn in Nagpur, 1,159 in fray

Nagpur, Jan 13 (UNI) The battle lines were drawn for the February one civic elections in Nagpur with 1,159 candidates remaining in the fray in 136 wards as the deadline for withdrawals passed today.

Additional Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ajay Ramteke told UNI that a total of 229 candidates withdrew their nominations during the three days of withdrawal. These included 178 who withdrew their nominations today, 33 who did so on Friday, and 18 who opted out on the first day of withdrawal on Thursday, Mr Ramteke said.

Symbols will be allotted on January 15 to the candidates who are left in the fray.
