Woman passenger trying to smuggle currency notes held
Mumbai, Jan 12 (UNI) A Sharjah-bound woman passenger was today arrested by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) sleuths, on recovery of an undisclosed amount at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here.
She was to fly in an Indian Airlines flight to Sharjah, when she was intercepted and questioned.
During interrogation, she declared she had USD 5,000 US dollars with her.
However, examination of her baggage led to the recovery of Indian and foreign currency totalling over Rs 17.14 lakh, which she had concealed in a packet of soap bar and food packets.
On further investigation, she admitted that she was carrying 12,500 Euros on behalf of another person and the remaining money belonged to her.
