Video denigrating the Mahatma unfortunate: Mulayam

Lucknow, Jan 12: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today strongly condemned a denigrating video posted on a website which mocked Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

''The video can best be described as unfortunate. It has made a mockery of the Father of the Nation,'' Mr Singh said emerging from a Cabinet meeting this morning here.

He accused the Centre of being soft on such issues that concern the sentiments of the people and affect the values propounded by founding fathers of the nation.

''The UPA government remained mum on the Saddam Hussein execution too,'' he said.

The footage posted on video sharing website Youtube showed a man dressed as the Mahatma, resorting to violence, carrying a dagger, making obscene gestures and performing a pole dance.
