UP drug peddler held in Muktsar child killings
Moga, Jan 12 (UNI) Muktsar district police today arrested a 25-year-old drug peddler of Uttar Pradesh who has allegedly confessed to killing five children whose decomposed bodies were recovered from an abandoned rice sheller of Congress leader Jagmeet Brar.
The man, identified as Mukesh Kumar of Mainpuri, presently residing at Jalalabad road Muktsar, was arrested by the police when he came to the abondoned rice mill early today apparently to confirm whether the body of his fifth victim Sarita Rani Yadav (13) was still buried in the corner of the mill, Inspector General police K Bhawar said at a press conference this evening.
The DIG police Ferozepur Range Ishwar Chander and DIG police Muktsar G Nageshwar Rao were also present at the press conference.
According to the IG, the accused confessed to raping and killing five children in the presence of a large number of prominent people.
The police personnel on duty immediately nabbed the accused, he said.
The accused admitted that he had lured these Bawaria children in the month of November 2006 and raped and strangulated them after tying their hands.
The accused, according to the IG, was involved in number of theft cases and also in NDPS Act. In one case, he had been sentenced to three years RI.
According to IG police, samples for DNA test of four murdered children have already been collected yesterday by the forensic expert team and the samples of the fifth girl, whose dead body was also recovered from the same mill, will be taken for the DNA test The bodies of the children were found in the mill on Tuesday night.
