Unani college declared model institution

Bhopal, Jan 12 (UNI) The Hakeem Syed Zia Ul Hasan government unani medical college here has been included in the model college scheme of the union government, making it eligible for a grant of Rs three crore.

Half of the grant received in first instalment will be spent on publicity of unani medical treatment as also to bring qualitative improvement in the standard of unani education.

The Ayush department of the state government had sent a proposal to the Centre in 2005 in this regard though colleges completing 10 years of its establishment were eligible for assistance under the scheme. However the norm was relaxed and the unani medical college set up here in 1998 was sanctioned the assistance of Rs 3 crore.

Meanwhile, construction of buildings for the colleges of unani, Ayurved and homoeopathy was nearing completion on 50 acre land in the city's Chunabhatti area, official sources said.
