TN Govt accords permission to start Anglo-Indian College: Nigle
Tiruchirapalli, Jan 12 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has accorded permission to the Salesian Missionary to start an Anglo-Indian College, in the backward district of Dharmapuri, according to Oscar C Nigli, MLA (nominated to represent the Anglo-Indian community).
Disclosing this to media here, Mr Nigli, who heads various Anglo-Indian bodies, said the Anglo-Indian college, starting from the next academic year, would offer courses in basic sciences and arts.
The state government had appointed an exclusive Inspector of Anglo-Indian School to keep a close watch on the quality of education, he said adding that plans were afoot to improve the quality of education in all the existing 42 Anglo-Indian Schools across the State by upgrading the syllabus.
Appealing to the government to restore the reservation in engineering and medicine for the Anglo-Indian students, he hoped that vacant post of teachers in Anglo-Indian schools in the state would be filled up soon.
