Sidhu likely to spend one more night behind bars
Patiala, Jan 12 (UNI) Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former BJP MP and star campaigner of SAD-BJP alliance for Punjab assembly elections, seems set to spend one more night behind bars even as the Supreme Court today granted him bail in the road rage death case.
''There seems very little possibility of Sidhu coming out of the jail tonight as it will take some time for the SC orders to reach here. The other formalities also would take time. We hope to see him out tomorrow,'' Sidhu's aide Maj R S Gill said.
Sidhu, also a known TV anchor, spent his first night in the VIP cell in the Patiala Central Jail peacefully, Jail sources said.
He wore his own clothes as he was in judicial custody and had 'Dal and Chapati' given to him according to the Jail manual.
After taking his meal last night he took a stroll outside his barrack for about half an hour.
Sidhu woke up early in the morning today and after doing exercise ate some fruits, brought by his friend, with a glass of milk.
His friend Sarbjit Singh ''Rozy'' who met him in the jail said the known humourist was in high spirits and had again reposed faith in the Judiciary.
Sidhu's wife and children, who live here, did not come to meet him even today. Sidhu's wife Dr Navjot Kaur is working as doctor in the local government hospital.
A battery of mediapersons and OB vans, were standing outside the Patiala Jail and became more active when the news of the apex court accepting his bail plea, came in.
