Poddar chosen for Naresh Mehta award
Bhopal, Jan 12 (UNI) Kolkata-resident intellectual and writer Vasudev Poddar has been selected for the Naresh Mehta Samman, 2006 by the Madhya Pradesh Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti for his work 'Vishwa Ki Kalyatra' while the Shailesh Matiyani Smriti Katha Puraskar will be conferred on Dehradun-resident writer Alpana Mishra for 'Bheetar Ka Waqt'.
The Supreme Court's former Chief Justice Ramesh Chandra Lahoti will present the awards here on February 4 at a programme to be presided over by writer Govindchandra Pande, a release said.
The Naresh Mehta Samman carries Rs 21,000 and a citation. The Katha Puraskar, which is awarded to a writer for an outstanding first work, carries Rs 5,000 and a citation, the release added.
