PMSF: Venugopal withholding results of 100 sr resident doctors
New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI) Demanding immediate removal of AIIMS Director P Venugopal, the Progressive Medicos and Scientific Forum (PMSF) today accused him of withholding the result for appointing over 100 reserved category senior resident doctors, affecting patient care in the institute.
''The unexplained withholding of the results of senior resident doctors' appointment clearly demonstrates the extent to which Dr P Venugopal is willing to stoop to prevent entry of meritorious reserved category students into AIIMS,'' PMSF Convenor Dr Rakesh Kumar said.
The PMSF urged President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the situation.
Dr Kumar alleged the AIIMS director was ''carrying on'' with his ''biased and discriminatory attitude'' towards the reserved category students.
''Only 20 candidates out of 100 were offered senior senior resident posts in AIIMS despite 56 of them having qualified...
Despite counseling for the said posts having being conducted,'' he added.
Claiming that the delay is making the patients suffer, he said academic careers of meritorious doctors will bear ''negative consequences''.
