PCG decries Centre-State's extra reaction to recent carnage
Guwahati, Jan 12 (UNI): The Peoples Consultative Group(PCG), formed by the ULFA to carry out the peace process, today reacted that Centre and State had shown ''extra reaction'' to the recent carnagae.
PCG member Hiranya Saikia in a press conference today said that such massacre or deaths had taken place earlier also, but the Centre only recreated when the Hindi speaking people were killed.
''Thousands of Assamese people were killed, arrested or maimed by the state machinery but never did the Centre and the state shown such reaction. But, when the Hindi speaking were killed, the political leaders from Delhi are making a beeline which only reconfirm that we Assamese are second class citizens,'' he said.
He, however, expressed regret that the recent killings of Asom saying that over the year more than 10,000 people have lost their lives and the Centre was never reacted such a way. ''Today a war has been thrust upon Asom and more people will be killed,'' he said. He added that PCG had temporarily withdrawn itself from the peace process but they would sit tonight for a fresh round of negotiation.
He further said " it was he was carrying all the messages of ULFA C-in-C Paresh Barua right from the beginning to start the peace process and he knew how insincere the Central Government was to carry forward the peace process." When confronted what was his personal stand on the sovereignty, he tried to sidestep the question but came out with a concept of ''shared sovereignty'', a similar doctrine like present Indian federal system.
